Wellington County libraries are testing a new initiative in Mount Forest and Fergus with the addition of library kiosks.

Chief Librarian Murray McCabe told Wellington North council on July 9 that two vending machines will be added to the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex and Centre Wellington Sportsplex.

The machines will hold up to 300 items, including books and DVDs.

“It’s really going to provide a convenience for families and those that may not want to take a trip to the library all the time,” said McCabe.

“All they need is a library card, and they can sign out as many as they want.”

He added the county is expecting the service to be up and running by the end of August.
