ELORA - The long list of cancellations due to the COVID-19 pandemic has now stretched into the Christmas season.

The Elora Lions Club announced on Sept. 17 that the Elora Santa Claus Parade has been cancelled.

"The current COVID situation, and with outside gatherings of only 100 people, the ever-popular Elora Lions Santa Claus Parade would contravene the guidelines," stated club member and parade marshal Joe Van den Borre.

"The Elora Lions are concerned about the community, but also concerned about the health and safety of all involved."

Van den Borre said the decision was made at a recent virtual meeting of the Elora Lions Club.He added club officials hope to again host the parade, usually held in the evening at the end of November, in 2021.
