ARTHUR – One person has been arrested and charged in connection with a weekend vandalism spree that left seven windows smashed in downtown Arthur.

Police responded to complaints about someone smashing windows on George Street at about 5:45am on May 25.

"Upon police arrival, a suspect was located nearby and arrested," states a May 26 press release from the Wellington County OPP.

"In total, five businesses and two private residences were damaged."

Dan John Read, 45, of no fixed address, was charged with seven counts of mischief (destroy or damage property).
