A neighbour who witnessed the aftermath of the incident told the Advertiser the suspect exited the home with his hands up and complied with police commands.

A 27-year-old Centre Wellington man is charged with attempted murder.

Police say the victim and accused are "known to each other," but they did not elaborate on the relationship.

"I am unable to expand on the relationship between the accused and the victim because that could potentially identified the victim," OPP spokesperson Cheri Rockefeller told the Advertiser.

She added, "this is considered to be an isolated incident and there was no risk to public safety."

The accused was held for a bail hearing and remains in custody.
