MOOREFIELD - Mapleton Buds and Blooms had a beautiful day for its plant sale this year.

“It was so nice to be free to reconnect with the community again. Our sale went very well,” officials of the Moorefield horticultural society state.

On June 17 members met at Lori and Renske Helmuth’s home and spent the evening labeling and pricing all the donated plants and loaded them all on a wagon.

The following day, Lori Helmuth drove the wagon into Moorefield and members got everything up ready for customers.

“We are fortunate to have several artists in our group and they had made some beautiful glass flowers for your garden, there was some home grown gourds that were painted or set in designs, and some very unique items to enhance your garden,” officials state.

Organizers offered a special thank-you to  Hammonds for allowing them to set up in front of their store.

“Thank you too, to our members for digging and potting up their plant donations. It is a lot of work.”

Members of the group come from all over Mapleton, Palmerston and Listowel.

Anyone interested in leaning more about gardens and how to care for them is invited to attend meetings, which are held on the fourth Tuesday of every month with speakers on a wide range of topics.

Robert Traut was scheduled to speak at the June 28 meeting on how to grow Bonsai trees.

The group was also set to host its summer plant show that evening at the Maryborough Community Centre in Moorefield.
