MAPLETON – Mapleton council presented a $250 athletic bursary to Joel Rumph on Aug. 13, in recognition of his success in high jump at the Athletics Canada Indoor National Championships.

Rumph earned a silver medal with his 180cm jump (5’11”).

Rumph started jumping when he was six years old and participated in Drayton’s Community Christian School’s Track and Field Day.

Leading up to the national competition Rumph trained with coaches Chris Timm at the University of Guelph and Joe Heenan of MyFit in Drayton.
