Mapleton recruiting firefighters

MAPLETON – Mapleton Fire Rescue is holding a recruitment session in October.

“We’re trying to recruit volunteers,” Fire Chief Rick Richardson said.

The department is looking for recruits in both Moorefield and Drayton. Anyone who’s interested is encouraged to attend Mapleton Fire Rescue’s demo day on Oct. 3 from 1 to 3pm at the Moorefield fire station.

“We kind of go through demonstrations of what we do,” he said. “We’re hoping to get a few to join because every two years we get down in numbers a little bit.

“And we build a list that we can draw from for the next two years.”

The fire department will also be holding recruitment information nights at the Drayton station on Oct. 14 at 7pm and at the Moorefield station on Oct. 21 at 7pm.
