MAPLETON – Council here voted unanimously in support of a farm severance south of Conestogo Lake.

Property owners Heather Smith and Stefan Guschlbaur are looking to sever a 29-hectare (72-acre) agricultural parcel from a two-hectare (five-acre) currently-vacant lot within the Glen Allan hamlet.

The smaller parcel includes lands that form part of a draft subdivision plan, with the agricultural parcel proposed to be severed falling outside the proposed subdivision.

“This consent is part of the process to clear conditions of the draft approval and will facilitate the final registration of the subdivision,” states a report to council about the severance application.

All zoning provisions are met and the Mapleton building and public works departments do not have any concerns.

Councillors did not ask questions or offer comments, and voted unanimously in support of the application on May 14.

The County of Wellington is the decision making authority for severance applications and is to consider the matter during a meeting on June 13.
