MAPLETON – The first township-operated summer camp for youngsters here got underway on July 5.

In a report to council at the June 30 meeting, Mapleton recreation manager Amy Grose indicated the camp was set to run from the Moorefield Community Centre beginning on July 5.

The camp runs Monday to Friday from 9am until 4pm with the exception of holidays until August 27.

Grose noted new staff members have been hired and trained to work at the camp.

“The response has been … overwhelmingly positive,” Grose told council.

“We are very excited to report that we have a total of 240 camp spaces available this year, we are seventy-five percent full, with several weeks at capacity,” Grose stated in the report, which was received by council for information.
