Mercer rescinds remote work instruction effective Jan. 31

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Workers in Wellington County can return to in-person work environments effective Jan. 31.

Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health Medical Officer of Health Dr. Nicola Mercer is rescinding a letter of instruction that has been in effect since Dec. 20 instructing employers in Guelph, and Wellington and Dufferin Counties to ensure employees were working from home where possible to stymie growing COVID-19 case counts in the health region.

The public health decision coincides with the province's easing of restrictions also taking effect on Monday.

“In conjunction with the province’s loosening of COVID-19 restrictions, my letter of instruction requiring remote work will be rescinded on Monday, January 31. While remote work is no longer required, I still urge individuals, organizations and businesses to make working from home an option wherever possible," said Mercer in a statement provided to the Advertiser.
