MINTO — On July 11, Minto council approved a structural grant of $3,000 to Ms. Beauty Salon, Spa and Laser Clinic in Harriston.

Ms. Beauty Salon, Spa and Laser Clinic is owned by Maneesha and Akash Sharma and has been operating in Harriston for several years out of 1 Elora St. N. Unit 2.

At the end of 2022, the Sharma’s purchased 6 Elora St. S. and have been working to transform the space, including extensive interior and exterior renovations.

In February, council approved a $3,000 façade and a $1,000 signage grant for the storefront enhancements.

The current application is related to the windows on the second and third floor of the building which, economic and community development director Belinda Wick-Graham explained, fall under energy efficiency improvements and also fall under structural grants.

“The committee voted via email unanimously to support that recommendation. So that is the recommendation we have here for council to approve the structural grant for $3,000,” Wick-Graham explained to council.

Mayor Dave Turton said admired the building.

“It’s an amazing looking building,” he said.

“I mean the architecture and all the other things that goes along with that. Can you imagine that being built there today?”

Council voted unanimously in favour of the motion.
