MINTO – On Feb. 6, representatives from the Town of Minto attended the 68th annual Economic Developers Council of Ontario (EDCO) President’s Dinner in downtown Toronto, where a range of individuals and initiatives that made a significant impact on their communities in 2024 were recognized.

The town was the recipient of the Business Attraction and Retention (rural, under 100,000 population) Award for our Move to Minto: Business Attraction Campaign.

This project was made possible with the support of Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) Rural Economic Development (RED) Funding, as well as supported by the Saugeen Economic Development Corporation, the County of Wellington, the Minto Chamber of Commerce, and the Town of Minto.

The project aimed to inspire families, businesses, and retirees to make the move to Minto to help revitalize the downtowns, and included virtual property renderings and window stickers, a business attraction video, investment packages, tour the town property open house and more, to showcase 11 properties in Harriston, Clifford and Palmerston.

In the end six downtown units were leased or sold because of this initiative.

In addition to this award, a project hosted by Launchit Minto and the Town of Minto, Homegrown: A Gathering of Female-Identifying Rural Entrepreneurs, received honourable mentions in two categories including Business Attraction and Retention (rural) and Excellence in Rural Economic Development.
