Moorefield Optimists Grass Drags held at Driscoll Farms

MOOREFIELD – The Moorefield Optimists Grass Drags were held on Oct. 14 at Driscoll Farms in Mapleton. The well-attended event raised money for the club’s projects, including the recently completed new roof over the club-run outdoor skating rink in Moorefield. The event was opened by the Dream Team, a group of local snowmobilers representing the annual Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Snow Run. Shires lost her battle with cancer in 2004, but an annual women’s snowmobile run honours her memory and helps to raise funds to assist others with the financial strain of battling the disease. Next year’s run will be held Feb. 2 to 4 in Huntsville. More information can be found at breastcancersnowrun.org.
