DRAYTON – Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae announced the opening of nominations for King Charles III Coronation Medals on Aug. 8.

In May 2023, the federal government announced the striking of 30,000 commemorative medals for the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, King of Canada. The medals are an opportunity to recognise outstanding individuals who have made significant differences in their local communities or the country.

“There are so many great Ontarians that live in Perth-Wellington,” said MPP Rae.

“I encourage all residents to think about nominating a deserving individual in their communities for a King Charles III Coronation Medal.”

Community members should consider nominating individuals who have made significant contributions to Canada, Ontario or their local communities, officials state. This includes but is not limited to first responders and frontline workers, veterans and veteran organizations, community leaders and volunteers.

Eligible candidates must:

have made significant contributions to the country, Ontario, region or community, or an achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada;

be alive on May 6, 2023. (The Coronation Medal can be bestowed posthumously, as long as the candidate was alive on the date of the coronation); and

reside in Perth-Wellington.

Nominations are open until Sept. 9 and will be accepted online (bit.ly/4fEefpq) or at MPP Rae’s office 55 Lorne Ave. E., Unit 2, Stratford, Ont., N5A 6S4.
