Non-motorized Holstein parade a seasonal spectacle on Dec. 9 — The tiny community of Holstein was bursting at the seams as hoards of spectators lined its main streets to watch the 29th annual non-motorized Christmas Parade in 2022. Cars were not only parked in every spot along the route, but also along adjoining roads as far as the eye could see. The parade was about 20 minutes long and consisted mainly of horses and ponies of various breeds that were driven, ridden and led. HOLSTEIN – Holstein’s 30th Non-Motorized Santa Claus Parade is set for Dec. 9 at 1pm.

“Only the best parade you’ll ever watch!” organizers state.

The 2023 parade through the village of Holstein will start at The Holstein Depot on Southgate Road 12 and will end at Egremont Community School on Grey Road 109.

Main Street will be closed around 12:30pm; participants should plan to be at the Holstein Depot no later than noon and spectators should be parked no later than 12:30pm.

Dundalk and Mount Forest firefighters will assist in road control and they will also be collecting donations for the parade.

Organizers advise spectators that are parked facing northbound they will not be able to move until the parade has made a return back down the Main Street.

“Please be patient and respectful of their safe return back to the depot,” organizers urge.
