One person dead, another seriously injured in two-vehicle crash

MAPLETON – One person is dead and another suffered life-threatening injuries in a vehicle collision here on Monday.

Emergency crews responded to the intersection of Wellington Roads 8 and 10 near Moorefield on July 25 at about 3:30pm.

Wellington County OPP officials say a dump truck and a pickup truck collided at the intersection.

"The driver of the pickup truck was pronounced deceased at the scene," police stated in a press release.

"The passenger was airlifted to a nearby trauma centre with life-threatening injuries."

Police say the identity of the deceased is being withheld at this time pending next of kin notifications.

Wellington Road 8 and Wellington Road 10 were closed in both directions for several hours.
