FERGUS – The Ontario Magic Festival is set to return to the Fergus Grand Theatre on Oct. 4, with two shows that aim to celebrate the art of magic and the township’s historical connection to the craft.

The festival’s founder, illusionist Ryan Joyce, says  the event is more than just a performance; it’s a revival of a magical legacy.

The Canadian Association of Magicians was founded in Elora, which allowed Canadian magicians to compete under their own flag in international competitions.

“We are living in the most magical township in Ontario, in Canada,” Joyce stated.

The festival serves as a way to honour that history and bring magic back to its roots.

Joyce’s vision is to make live magic a yearly occurrence in the community, with a long-term goal of having magic-related events every week in October as part of the local Monster Month celebration.

The festival will feature two distinct shows for all ages.

The Magic Show Matinee at 2pm is a family-friendly, 75-minute performance featuring three magicians and a special four-legged guest.

For the evening, the festival presents the Hilariously Hypnotic Comedy Show at 7:30pm. This show, which stars Joyce’s alter ego Ryan David, turns audience volunteers into the stars.

Joyce describes the show as a way to “create legends on stage” and promises an evening that is “more geared towards the adults” while remaining family-friendly.

Tickets for the Magic Show Matinee are $13 for children and $23 for adults. Tickets for the evening show are $35.

Both shows are expected to sell out, officials say.
