Orton continues annual tradition

ORTON – Continuing with the tradition, the Orton Community Association is hosting its annual Canada Day chicken barbecue at the St. John’s Community Church.

The event will operate as a drive through with prepackaged dinners. People can drive up and orders will be delivered to their car.

The event will run July 1, from 5pm to 7pm with 5pm and 6pm time slots available. People are encouraged to pre-order by June 25. To place an order, call 519-855-4243.

The association’s social convenor Cathie Keeler said they served 585 meals last year, a large uptake from when they began in 1982 with 260 meals.

Dinner includes chicken, baked potato, coleslaw, a bread roll and strawberry shortcake dessert. The cost is $18 for half chicken or $18 for double dark chicken. Funds goes toward to Orton Community Association.
