Police investigating arson at Palmerston Lions Heritage Park

PALMERSTON – Police are seeking help from the public to identify the person(s) who set fire to a train car in a local park on the weekend.

On Dec. 14 at about 3pm, police and firefighters responded to a fire inside a wooden rail car at Lions Heritage Park on Main Street East in Palmerston.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the fire.

Wellington County OPP officials have deemed the fire suspicious have started an arson investigation.

The park has reopened the public, OPP media relations constable Matthew Burton told the Advertiser in a Dec. 17 email.

Wellington County OPP's Major Crime Unit has now taken over the investigation.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 1-888-310-1122.
