GUELPH – A Puslinch man faces charges after a police officer was elbowed in the head during a recent arrest.

Guelph Police officials say officers were patrolling downtown Guelph on Aug. 30 at about 1:45am “when they observed an intoxicated man harassing members of the public. While attempting to arrest the man for public intoxication, he pulled his arm free and elbowed one of the officers in the head.”

Police say the man was detained and transported to the police station, where a search revealed two small bags of suspected cocaine.

A 39-year-old Puslinch man was charged with assaulting a police officer, possession of a controlled substance and public intoxication. He is to appear in Guelph court on Oct. 10.
