Police searching for five suspects in abduction, death of Cambridge man
GUELPH – Police are searching for five suspects connected to the death of a Cambridge man who police now say was assaulted and abducted prior to being left behind at the scene of a collision last week.
Emergency crews were called to the Hanlon Expressway, between College Avenue and Stone Road, at about 6pm on May 14.
“One person suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was transported to local hospital by ambulance, where they were pronounced deceased,” stated the original Wellington County OPP press release that day.
Both vehicles involved in the collision fled before officers arrived, police stated in a May 15 update.
The victim was later identified as a 40-year-old man from Cambridge.

"Upon further investigation, police learned that the victim was assaulted, kidnapped and abducted from a residence on Fife Road by five suspects who fled in two different vehicles," the OPP stated in a May 19 update.
Police added they "believe this is an isolated incident."
The first vehicle is a grey Toyota Venza SUV with Ontario licence plate CVBX 602.
The second is a white Dodge Ram pickup truck with Ontario licence plate BZ 85153.
Investigators are asking people to check video surveillance cameras and dash cameras for images or video related to this incident or the vehicles involved, police stated.
