Program to help employees earn their diploma

School within a Factory (SWAF) is heading north.

The innovative program assists adult students in earning their Ontario Secondary School Diploma, while remaining full-time employees. Following a successful inaugural year in Guelph with the Linamar Corporation, the Upper Grand District School Board’s SWAF program has expanded.  The program will now accommodate employees in Mount Forest, Arthur, Palmerston and Harriston.

SWAF was designed to:

- bring the classroom to the employees to provide one-on-one help;

- be flexible to accommodate the student’s work schedule and other responsibilities;

- offer courses that have both in-class and independent self-study components; and

- give support to working adults as they complete high school courses.
