Public health looking for owner of dog that bit woman

MOUNT FOREST – Public health officials are looking for the owner of a dog they say bit someone several times on Wednesday.

In a Sept. 6 press release, Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health (WDGPH) spokesperson Danny Williamson stated "a young woman was bitten by a dog described as black and white brindle" on Sept. 4 at about 11:30am on Queen Street in Mount Forest.

"The owner of the dog was described as a short older man with white hair, no facial hair and a limp," the release stated.

"The dog was reported to have bitten the young woman numerous times as she intervened between it and a smaller dog."

Williamson explained WDGPH inspectors need to confirm the dog does not have rabies.

"By verifying the health of the dog, the victim can avoid receiving the post-exposure rabies treatment," he stated.
