PUSLINCH – Firefighters responded to a grass fire call on Wellington Road 36 in Badenoch around 5am on Oct. 23 but arrived to find the township-owned storage shed had burned to the ground.

The shed was used by Puslinch Minor Soccer and all its equipment was destroyed in the blaze.

“We don’t know what started it,” said fire chief Jamie MacNeil in a phone interview.

“It could have been a lightening strike, it could have been something else. We just don’t know.

“There was nothing left to investigate.”

“It’s disappointing,” he continued. “We always want to provide a cause.”

MacNeil said the township had done some repairs to the shed the day before the fire.

Soccer club officials did not respond by press time to questions from the Advertiser about next steps for them.

Comments on Facebook were supportive of the club and many people said they’d support a fundraiser.
