ABERFOYLE - Puslinch council approved its 2020 operating and capital budget with a 3.72% tax increase.

For the typical Puslinch residence assessed at $608,000, that means a $37 increase.

The increase per $100,000 of assessment value is about $6.

Taking into account the County of Wellington’s 2020 proposed budget and 2020 education tax rate, the blended tax impact for the typical Puslinch residence of $608,000 is 1.52% or $85. The blended tax increase per $100,000 assessment value is about $14.

“Puslinch council has passed a responsible budget that continues to focus on our key priorities,” stated Puslinch Mayor James Seeley.

2020 budget highlights include:

- a capital tax levy increase to maintain and replace assets in accordance with the asset management program recommendations;

- a contribution of $1,573,066 into capital discretionary reserves for future projects and equipment;

- over $2,872,924 spent on  roads, bridges and sidewalks to maintain a transportation network across the township, including improvements to Concession 1, Watson Road South, Moyer’s Bridge and McLean Road/Concession 7; and

- improvements to township parks.

“I think this is a budget we can be proud of,” the mayor said.
