The Clifford Recreation Association (CRA) offered a free skating session to the community as an expression of gratitude to those who volunteer to keep the recreational facilities open and engaged.

The CRA kicked off the 2014-15 season at the Clifford arena with a Volunteer Appreciation Night on Oct. 18. President Randy Ruetz welcomed all, stating “Enjoy a skate and some treats as small tokens of our appreciation.”

The CRA is determined to “continue to keep our arena up and running, but we could not do it without the continuing support of our many dedicated food booth volunteers. We have a booth to be proud of at our arena,” said Ruetz.

Adults and children arrived to lace up their skates and test the ice and enjoy the hospitality of the CRA. Hot drinks, punch, squares, cheese, crackers, cookies, and cupcakes were crowd pleasers. Debbie and Brad Richardson opened the food booth

Chocolate and lemon cupcakes were stacked in celebration of the Barn Cats fifth season. This ladies hockey team under the direction of Cindy Reading is strong and howling for another great year on the ice.

Isabella Hummel and friends Jorja Harkness, Tristan Greenley, and Alexis Greenley were the first to hit the ice followed by Clint Greenley and Reg Grice.

For over 20 years, former village of Clifford recreation committee decorated the Rotary Park at the south end of Clifford in time for the Christmas Parade. The job was later turned over to Gregg Andrews and some youthful volunteers. This year a new set of volunteers is needed.  Brad Richardson at 519-327-8178 to volunteer.
