GUELPH – About 50 people participated in a bike ride in support of Palestine on Sept. 7, raising money to send to families in Gaza. Riders picked one of two routes: an 11km ride through Guelph, representing the 11 months that have passed since the escalation of violence in Israel and Palestine since Oct. 7; or a 48km route, representing the 48 weeks since that date. Most of the longer route was in Guelph/Eramosa, with some stretches in Puslinch. Event organizer and Rockwood resident Anees Munshi said he thinks its important for people to come together as a community to make a statement about their concerns over “what’s happening in Palestine.”

The ride was organized by Interfaith Justice, a group of Christians, Muslims, Jews, and other spiritual people who advocate for peace, particularly in Palestine and Israel. Group members live in Guelph, Rockwood and Centre Wellington. From left, Bassam, Jenna Rose, Debbie Samson, Hiba Sadi, Zaid Shamsi, Rabia Khan, Olivia Butler, Ana Maria Cummins, Summer and Rami.
