Rotary Club, horticultural society team up to celebrate National Garden Day
CLIFFORD - Clifford and District Horticultural president Vic Palmer teamed up with Clifford Rotary Club president Trish Palmer to celebrate National Garden Day and Garden Week Ontario on June 12 at Clifford Rotary Celebration Square.
From 9am to noon, tomato plants, monarch butterfly raising kits, and seed bomb kits or as they are also called, earth balls were given away.
Explanations accompanied the kits designed to be a fun and learning experience for children and adults alike.
All morning people stopped by to chat and pick out a plant and the kits. One teacher thought the kits were a great idea and was eager to share them with her students.
The packets contained radish, lettuce, aster, zinnia, or wildflower seeds.
Along with Vic and Trish, their granddaughter Jazzy was helped to serve those who stopped by for a plant, seed bomb kit, or monarch butterfly kit.
Masks were worn and social distancing was observed to respect the COVID-19 protocols that remain in place even as Ontario enters stage one of reopening.
