FERGUS – Four sexual assault charges levied against a Fergus man more than two years ago have now been withdrawn.

Gordon Bomhof, 51, of Fergus, was arrested in April of 2020 and charged with sexual assault on a person under 16, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching (under 16) and forcible confinement.

At the time Wellington County OPP officials stated they laid the charges following a 19-day investigation.

After several delays, Bomhof's case was set for trial on Sept. 19 of this year, with jury selection to commence on Sept. 6.

However, according to court documents, on Sept. 6 all charges against Bomhof were withdrawn "at the request of the crown."

There was a publication ban in place during this case.
