SHUTE, Phyllis (Diamond)

Of Guelph, long term care resident of St Joesph Health Care Center passed away peacefully on Friday October 6, 2023 at the age 109 years. She was born March 26, 1914 in Shanghai China. The family immigrated to Canada in 1951 and resided in Guelph Ontario. She spent the early years of her life in a Japanese Internment Camp with her husband and son. Predeceased by her husband John in 1978 and her son Jack in 2015. Survived by son Trevor (Donna) Shute and loving grandmother of 5 grandchildren. Our deepest appreciation to the outstanding care Phyllis received from all the staff from St Joseph’s on the 3rd North Wing. Cremation has taken place, arrangements entrusted to Wall-Custance Funeral home & Chapel (519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com).  Donations can be made to Guelph Humane Society or a hospice of your choice. A tree will be planted in memory of Phyllis Shute in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
