Climate protest - A pop-up “Sing for the Climate” event was held in front of the Erin post office on Sept. 20 as part of Global Climate Strike Week, which continues until Sept. 27. It was organized by environmental activist Liz Armstrong, led by Kim Pearson of the Young at Heart Singers and supported by Transition Erin. Local students did not skip classes to attend, but about 25 residents came out to sing songs about caring for the planet, demanding an end to the fossil fuel era.

“Those trucks you hear on the road – they’re soon going to be electric,” said Armstrong.

The group also supported the efforts of Greta Thunberg, the 16-year-old Swedish activist who protested in front of the Swedish parliament and helped found the school climate strike movement in 2018.
