Speeders of the Week
PUSLINCH – On Nov. 4 at about 9:30pm, a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on the Hanlon Epxressway in Guelph.
Police say the officer observed a vehicle that appeared to be travelling above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was allegedly clocked on radar at about 75km/h over the posted speed limit.
A 20-year-old from Newmarket was charged with speeding and performing a stunt (excessive speed) and is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.
WELLINGTON NORTH – On Nov. 8 at about 1:30pm, a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 109.
Police say the officer observed a commercial vehicle that appeared to be travelling above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was allegedly clocked on radar at about 135km/h in an 80km/h zone.
A 31-year-old from Brampton was charged with speeding, performing a stunt (excessive speed) and failing to complete a daily inspection report.
An associated business was charged with failing to ensure performance standards are met and failing to ensure daily inspections are conducted properly.
The accused are to appear in Guelph court at a later date.
In the above incidents the driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days and the vehicle seized for 14 days.
