Peacefully passed away in Milton, Monday June 24, 2024 in her 93rd year. Wife of the late Glenn Stringer (2016), Loving mother of Robert (late Wendy), Cathy (Geoff) and Karen (Chris). Proud Nan of Debbie (Joe), Leslie (Jeff), John (Kelly), Abbie and Angela. Cherished Nan Nan of Ariana, Brooke, Alex, Katelyn, Lauren, Paul, Logan and Colin. Predeceased by parents Ralph and Abbie Rae and brothers Gordon, Frank, Ernest, George and John. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and extended family. Jean was born in 1931 on an apple farm in Dixie, Ontario. She started her teaching career at the age of 18 in a one room schoolhouse. She continued her career as an elementary school teacher in Milton and the surrounding area. She lived and raised her family in Milton and retired in Fergus. Jean carried her love of learning long into her life, reading many books and learning how to use a laptop in her 80’s. She loved gardening, doing crossword and sudoku puzzles and shared her love of jigsaw puzzles with her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing card games, especially euchre. Her raspberry pies and Christmas pudding were cherished family traditions. Jean spent her last 4 years at Seasons Retirement Community in Milton where she made many new friendships and enjoyed all the activities offered - bingo, cards, puzzles and exercise classes. Cremation has taken place and as per Jean’s wishes, there will be a family graveside service which will be held at a later date. Jean’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
