Takeout format continues serving needs of community

FERGUS - St. James Anglican Church is showing how resilient the community is in a time of crisis.
In the wake of COVID-19, the Wednesday Women’s Lunch program switched to a takeout format.
Patrons received a note thanking them for stopping by for a meal.
The note added, “We hope you are doing well and adjusting to these difficult times. Let us know if you have any needs or concerns.”
The church bulletin stated “Going forward, let us continue to pray for those who are ill and/or anxious. As well, our hearts are with healthcare professionals working to manage this crisis and to care for those in need. Reach out and be sure your neighbours are doing okay and, in the meantime, we will be sorting out how to take care of those vulnerable individuals depending on us.”
It added “With this in mind, our community meals will continue.”
On Mondays, lunch will be available for pickup at the Crepérie Cafe in Elora and at St. James in Fergus, 12 to 1:30pm. Wednesdays, lunch will be available for pickup at St. James in Fergus, 12 to 1:30pm. Fridays, dinners will be available at the food bank (third Friday), beginning at 6pm. On other Fridays, food will be available for pickup at St. James.
In between those times, they hope to have soups and emergency supplies available to those who reach out.

“In the meantime, take care of yourself. Call your neighbours. Read a good book or go for a walk,” reads the church bulletin. “We know things are stressful, but we really are all in this together. Take a deep breath and know you are a valued member of our community.”
