MINTO – Town council has approved a $332 signage grant for a soon-to-be opened Palmerston cannabis store.

Council approved the grant, which is funded by the town’s Community Improvement Program, for Golden Tree Cannabis on Main Street at the Feb. 6 meeting.

Golden Tree Cannabis, owned and operated by Terra and Anthony Oragunye, is an independently-owned retail chain with locations in Brampton and Shelburne and a planned outlet in Palmerston, notes a staff report from directory of economic and community development Belinda Wick Graham.

Located in former hotel

The store will be located in downtown building that once housed the Palmer Hotel.

The report explains the owners will be replacing a large backlit sign on the building, which is not covered under the town’s grant program. However, the town will contribute $332 toward the $665 estimated cost of a smaller secondary sign.
