Erin council awards $3-million contract for well house
ERIN – Council here has awarded a contract for the well house for community well E9 to Baseline Constructors Inc. for the price of $2,988,000 excluding tax.
The well is located north of Sideroad 17 on Wellington Road 23, within the West Credit River sub-watershed of the Credit River Watershed.
Tender documents were made available on Feb. 21 with a closing date of April 3.
The Town of Erin received six bids for the contract:
- Baseline Constructors Inc., $2,988,000;
- Industra Construction Corp., $3,078,490;
- Jeviso Construction Corporation, $3,113,059;
- H2Ontario Inc. for $3,179,000;
- Sona Construction Ltd., $3,458,000; and
- Esposito Bros Construction Ltd., $3,876,993.
The pre-tender estimate was $4,278,500 including contractor markup, labour and delivery costs, but excluding construction contingency.
The lowest bid, from Baseline Constructors Inc., is approximately 30% lower than the pre-tender cost estimate.
The project will be funded through development charges.
