ARTHUR – For the second year in a row, the traditional Arthur Fall Fair will be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, organizers will be providing a virtual fair this year, "with the possibility of a few in-person" events/exhibits.

"As a group, we prioritize the health and safety of our community, visitors, and volunteers, which is why we have made this decision," stated Carl Billiald, president of the Arthur Agricultural Society board of directors, in an April 1 press release.

"We will be in close contact with our public health representative to make sure we take all the proper precautions and can provide a safe experience for the community to enjoy."

The 165th fair, with the theme “Family Ties and Homemade Pies,” will run from Sept. 9 to 12.

Noting the board decision was unanimous, Billiald added planning is already underway for "this blend of (a) traditional and modern" fair.

"Our team of dedicated volunteers is passionate about promoting agriculture in our community, and we plan to continue these efforts with a virtual fair, and with our YouTube channel, Ag Tv," stated Billiald.
