GUELPH – People can provide advice or commentary to the Upper Grand District School Board by delegating during meetings.

A delegation is how groups and individual present to the school board.

Trustees may ask clarifying questions,  but do not engage in discussion with people delegating.

Changes

Moving forward, delegations are only permitted if the topic is linked to something on the meeting agenda, and the board chair can limit the number of delegations at a particular meeting (no parameters are placed on this limitation).

The scope of the rules has been widened to include delegations to committees in addition to delegations to the full board.

Trustees voted unanimously in support of the changes during the board meeting on May 14.
