WELLINGTON COUNTY – The Alzheimer Society Waterloo Wellington (ASWW) has announced the 2025 IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s has raised  $145,547.

On May 24 the event brought together over 275 participants in Guelph, Cambridge, Kitchener and Mount Forest. Donations are still coming in, and have exceeded the initial goal of $135,000.

Over 41,000 individuals are affected by dementia across the Waterloo and Wellington regions, officials stated in a press release.

The funds raised directly support local programs and services that enhance the quality of life for those affected by dementia.

These services include counseling, support groups, education, therapeutic recreational programming and respite care, all of which are provided at no cost to families in the region.

Officials say a standout contribution came from sisters Heather Ross and Margaret Archer, who participated in the Kitchener Walk.

They formed “Team Marlene” and raised $14,565 in honour of their mother, Marlene Archer.

“We are deeply grateful to everyone who participated, donated and volunteered,” stated Michelle Martin, chief executive officer of ASWW.

“Your support ensures that we can continue to provide vital services to those living with dementia and their care partners.

“Our donors really do make a significant difference in our community.”
