WELLINGTON COUNTY – All schools in the Wellington Catholic District School Board will close on Feb. 4 due to the second province-wide Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA) strike.

“We know Ontarians are growing impatient with these negotiations. Frankly, we share their frustration,” said OECTA president Liz Stuart.

“But we cannot allow this government to wear us all down and force us to accept their devastating cuts.”

This will be the second full withdrawal of services by OECTA teachers.

In Wellington Catholic, OECTA represents all teachers and occasional teachers.

“We regret any disruption to student learning or inconvenience to families that will result from job action,” Wellington Catholic director of education Tamara Nugent stated in a letter.

“We respect that the imposition of sanctions are a legal part of the collective bargaining process.”

She added the school board would continue to focus on the wellbeing of students.
