MOUNT FOREST – Wellington Heights kicked off the Special Olympics season on Oct. 25 by hosting a soccer tournament for schools from across Wellington and Waterloo counties.

There was a great turnout of athletes with 115 soccer players participating from five different schools.

Norwell DSS (Palmerston), Waterloo CI (Waterloo), John F. Ross CVI (Guelph), Orangeville DSS (Orangeville) and Wellington Heights represented the 16 teams that participated in the soccer tournament throughout the day.

Despite the soggy weather, the spirits of the Special Olympic athletes were not dampened as they played soccer with tremendous effort, energy, and pride!
