WELLINGTON NORTH - Members of the Wellington North Fire Service took on a team of Mount Forest Patriots Alumni in a charity hockey game at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex on Feb. 24. The game raised over $2,000 in cash donations, plus a pickup truck full of non-perishable food donations for local food banks.

The Patriots Alumni ended up winning the high-scoring affair 9-6.

Wellington North Mayor Andy Lennox dropped the puck for the opening face-off between firefighter captain Brendan Gorecki, left, and Ian Francis, president of the Patriots organization.
Sparky the Fire Dog and the Patriots’ mascot were on hand for the game.
