Wellington North public works director Matt Aston has resigned from his position.

“Matthew has been a valued member of the Wellington North team,” Mayor Lennox stated in a Jan. 16 press release.

“While we understand the reasons leading to his decision, we could only have hoped to keep a dedicated and a hardworking employee like Matthew for many more years.

“Now we can only thank him for his time here and wish him success in his future endeavours.”

Aston’s last day will be Jan. 27. He said he will be moving on to a new role in public works for a larger municipality.

“I am very thankful to township council, township CAO and the township team for the opportunity I have had to work as director of public works in Wellington North,” said Aston.

He was hired as public works director in January of 2015.

CAO Mike Givens said until a replacement is found the position will be covered by a combination of the CAO, chief building official, water and sewer superintendent and roads superintendent.
