Provincial funding has been approved for one of two major road reconstruction projects in Wellington North.

Queen Street (Highway 89), from Sligo Road to Dublin Street in Mount Forest, is set for reconstruction this year, at a cost of $1,290,000.

The township received $1,161,000 from the 2018-19 Connecting Links Program.

“I look forward to continuing our cooperative relationship and wish you success with your project,” stated Minister of Transportation Kathryn McGarry in a letter to the township.

The funding application for George/Smith Street (Highway 6) in Arthur, from the Conestogo River bridge to Conestoga Street, was not successful and removed from the 2018 budget.

Wellington North will hold a public meeting on the budget on April 16 from 5 to 7pm.

Council is expected to pass the budget a week later on April 23.
