MOUNT FOREST – Mayor Andy Lennox presented the Wellington Heights Secondary School Special Olympics Bocce Team with congratulatory certificates on June 23 in recognition of the team’s gold medal at the 2025 Special Olympics Ontario School Championships.

The team travelled to Ottawa from June 2 to 5 for the event, winning seven of their eight games over two days of competition.

“On behalf of Wellington North council, staff and residents, I extend our congratulations to the Wellington Heights Bocce Team,” said Mayor Andy Lennox. “To win a provincial championship is no easy feat, and you should be proud of your accomplishment. You’re great representatives of Wellington North, and your community is proud of you.”

The team was also lauded during an Upper Grand District School Board meeting on June 24 by director of education Peter Sovran.
