Year’s first signage grants approved
MINTO – Two signage grants, for $427 and $412, were approved by Minto council at an April 8 meeting.
One recipient, May’s Café at the Old Post in Harriston, is a community-focused café offering locally-sourced coffee, breakfast, lunch and dinner options, as well as sweet treats and soft-serve ice cream.
The owner, Mabel Amapali, was a participant of a PitchIt! Minto Business Competition and opened her doors at the Old Post in the summer of 2024.
The $427 grant includes a variety of signage to help raise awareness of the café’s location:
- 38” x 38” 4/4 vinyl applied to 6mm “alupanel,” laminated;
- four rail signs;
- May’s Café sign 38” x 38”;
- door decal printed on white vinyl pre-masked, laminated; and
- café logo on frosted vinyl decal.
May’s Café is at 39 Elora St. S.
A second signage grant for $412 was also approved during the April 8 council meeting.
The submission came from new Harriston business Inked, which provides tattoos and piercing services.
The business is located at the former LaunchIt Minto location at 1 Elora St. S.
The signage grant includes:
- 192” x 15” printed translucent vinyl reusing previous sign; and
- 25” x 50” standard gloss outdoor vinyl gloss laminated window decals.
The town’s signage grant program, initiated in 2009, will fund the grants. The 2025 CIP budget begins the year at $35,000.
Now that two applications have been approved, the remaining CIP budget totals $34,160.
