YOUNG, Gary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary Young. He passed away on Monday January 8, 2024 at the young age of 65 at Hospice Wellington, with loved ones by his side. Gary is survived by his wife of 36 years Laura, sons Scott (Maddie Sutton) and Mark (Kelsey Swanson), and brothers Don (Betty), Robert (Michael), Neil (Deb) and Keith (Therese). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Gary was an amazing husband and the best Dad who loved family time and always made us laugh. Gary spent his childhood in Manitoba and moved to Guelph Ontario in 1982. He retired from a career in Information Technology in June of 2022. He will be fondly remembered for his quick wit, along with his large variety of hobbies. Whether it was beekeeping, teaching karate, gardening, DIY projects or birdwatching, he was always learning new skills and spending time doing what he loved. We would like to extend our thanks to the staff at the Guelph General Hospital Chemo Center, our Bayshore nurses, and all the staff and volunteers at Hospice Wellington. Family and friends will be welcomed for a visitation at Gilbert Macintyre & Sons Funeral Home at 1099 Gordon St, on Saturday February 3rd, 2024 from 1-3pm. A memorial service will be held following the visitation starting at 3pm, with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations directed to Hospice Wellington and the Honey Bee Research Center at the University of Guelph would be appreciated.
